The 2020 Mazda3 Sedan comes in four different trims: Base, Select, Preferred, and Premium. Each has a FWD and AWD variant, excluding the Base trim, which only comes in FWD. Each has the 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine and a refined six-speed automatic transmission. The Mazda3 Sedan has 13.2 cu-ft of cargo space in the trunk, which can be extended by folding down the 60/40 split rear seats. At every trim level, the Mazda3 Sedan is cheaper than the corresponding Mazda3 Hatchback trim. It also gets better fuel mileage, though marginal.
The 2020 Mazda3 Hatchback differs from its Sedan sibling in a few key ways. It has three available trims: Base, Preferred, and Premium. Each trim has an AWD and FWD variant, including the Base model. The engines are also the same, as are the automatic transmissions. However, the Premium Hatchback has a six-speed manual variant for those who prefer driving stick. The Hatchback has a roomier cargo bay, measuring in at 20.1 cu-ft behind the rear seats. If you fold them down, though, that space more than doubles to 47.1 cu-ft, which almost matches some leading crossover SUVs.
Come test drive the 2020 Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback models and see which is right for you.
