We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: there are a lot of options in the crossover/SUV market. Well over 100, in fact. And that’s just available models. And that doesn’t take into account different trims, available packages, drivetrains, engines, et cetera. Well all is said and done, you’ll literally have to research hundreds of options. If that sounds as awful to you as it does to us, that let us help you out.

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 Signature doesn’t just look like a luxury vehicle, it feels like on. It features European-sourced Nappa leather and genuine wood accents alongside the high-quality soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. The KODO-inspired design philosophy gives the interior a clean, purposeful like something you’d find in Mercedes-Benz. The 2020 Chevy Equinox doesn’t really compare. While it’s usable, it’s not very impressive. The interior is filled with plastics and hard, scratchy surfaces.
The 2020 Equinox, when equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo-four, is a capable daily driver. It will get you where you need to go with little fuss. It handles competently and the ride is generally smooth. However, it lacks that elusive “it” factor. The Equinox doesn’t add up to much more than a commuter. The CX-5 on the other hand? The CX-5 is fun. It has the that famous Mazda handling and steering that makes it nimbler than vehicles half its size. All of that is bolstered by the insane amount of torque and the responsive six-speed transmission. The CX-5 makes driving something you look forward to, not dread.
