Engine Options
As of right now, there is only engine available for the US 2020 Mazda3. That’s the 2.5L Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine. It puts out 186 horsepower and 186 ft-lbs of torque. However, the pioneer gasoline-powered diesel-design 2.0L Skyactiv-X engine is already available in Europe for their Mazda3 hatch. It’s only slightly less powerful, with 177 horsepower, but manages an WLTP-estimated 44 mpg, about 1.5x the Skyactiv-G mpg. The WLTP is less strict than the EPA though, meaning this number is likely to go down a couple digits when it comes to America. We hope that the Europe release means that the Skyactiv-X will make its way stateside in the upcoming months. Europe also happens to have a 6-speed manual AWD Mazda3 hatchback, which we similarly hope makes its way to the States.
