Getting Rid of Pesky Windshield Streaks
Spring cleaning is here. You’ve washed the outside of your car, vacuumed the inside, cleaned the windows…and there’s streaks everywhere. All over the windows. You used a streak-free cleaner, so what’s going on? We here at Hall Mazda near Milwaukee know your pain. Let us help.
Here’s how to get rid of streaks on your vehicle’s windshield.
How to Avoid Streaks
Use these tips to make sure that there are no streaks left behind when you clean your car’s windshield and windows:
- Use clean microfiber cloth
- Use homemade cleaner (recipe below), no store-bought stuff
- Spray cleaner on cloth, never directly on glass
- Completely clean only one window at a time
- Wipe window in a top-to-bottom motion, no swirling or side-to-side
Homemade Cleaner Recipe
There are many glass cleaners out there that advertise as streak-free…and usually aren’t. You can make your own cheaply with things your already have lying around your house. You will need:
- 2 cups distilled water
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 1/4 rubbing alcohol
Combine those all into a spray bottle and shake it gently to mix. And there you have it! Cheap, effective cleaner that actually works.
