Driving Range and Performance in the 2019 Mazda CX-5
Gas prices are always fluctuating, and even when they hit a low, you’d likely still prefer to not have to make extra stops at the pump. Mazda is known for the unique performance in their vehicles thanks to SKYACTIV® technologies, and that’s prevalent in the 2019 Mazda CX-5 as well. Find out how far you can go with a full tank of gas in the CX-5 as we examine its driving range and performance!
The 2019 CX-5 comes with two different engine options. The first is the 2.5L 4-cylinder, which is the most efficient option at 25 city/31 hwy mpg. With a 14.8 gallon fuel tank, that amounts to a driving range of 370 city miles or 459 highway miles. The top two trim levels for the CX-5 (Grand Touring Reserve and Signature) each come standard with a more powerful 2.5L turbocharged engine that gets 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With this extra performance boost comes a dip in fuel efficiency at 22 city/27 hwy mpg, but the fuel tank is a little bigger at 15.3 gallons. When filled all the way up, the 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve and CX-5 Signature each can go about 337 city miles and 413 highway miles.
Of course, we don’t recommend trying to drive your car from full to empty before you fill up again. It’s generally suggested you fill up once your vehicle hits the quarter tank mark, just to be safe. After all, you wouldn’t want to be stranded on the side of the road in the cold Midwest winter or humid summer. However, it’s reassuring to know you can go pretty full with either engine on a full tank!
