The New SKYACTIV-X Engine is Crazy Efficient
Unfortunately for the US, we still don’t know when we’ll be getting the SKYACTIV-X engine, except that it’ll be available on select 2020 models (so within the next calendar year). However, the 2020 Mazda3 with SKYACTIV-X motor is already available in Europe. That means two things: 1. A US release probably isn’t all that far behind. 2. We have definitive performance specs in real world conditions. Spoiler alert: the SKYACTIV-X engine is ridiculously efficient.

Mazda’s Turbocharged SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T Engine
Mazda announced that its turbocharged SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T engine, which made its debut in the 2016 Mazda CX-9, has received a 2017 Wards 10 Best Engines award. Mazda’s SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T engine offers many Mazda and industry first including its innovative Dynamic Pressure Turbo. This system uses a butterfly valve in the engine’s exhaust to create more pressure through a smaller chamber which results in the turbocharged being able to spool up almost instantaneously, providing up to 310 pound-feet of torque for ample flexibility and performance in any situation. Mazda’s Most Fuel-Efficient Models
For the fourth consecutive year, Mazda has achieved the highest fuel-efficiency of any automotive manufacturer in the U.S., without offering a hybrid or electric model. With the highest fleet-wide adjusted fuel economy performance of 29.6 miles per gallon, Mazda led the chart for the model year. Mazda’s New G-Vectoring Control Technology
Mazda recently announced SKYACTIV®-Vehicle Dynamics. What is Mazda SKYACTIV®-Vehicle Dynamics technologies? It is a series of new-generation vehicle motion control technologies. The first in the series will be G-Vectoring Control which will be introduced across the Mazda lineup. The first Mazda to have G-Vectoring Control is the updated Mazda Axela, which is known as the Mazda3 outside Japan. The first North American application will come later this year in the 2017 Mazda6.
