Overview

The all new 2009 Mazda MAZDA6 is bigger with a longer wheelbase, a wider and more stable stance, and more interior room that sits up to five adults. Increased leg room in the front cabin and rear passenger room make it a sufficiently roomy vehicle in the midsize cars category. Besides, the 2009 Mazda MAZDA6 provides best-in-class cargo space.

The 2009 Mazda MAZDA6 is available as a four-door front-wheel drive (FWD) sedan only in i and s models in SV, Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims. A new blind spot monitoring system is standard on the Grand Touring trims while it is an option on Touring trims.

Power and performance

A 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 170 horsepower powers i models. The engine has been mated to a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed Sport automatic with manual-shift mode.

A 3.7L V6 engine that pumps out 272 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque - more horsepower and torque than most other midsize cars on the market � powers s models. The engine features a 6-speed Sport automatic transmission with manual-shift mode.

Body and style

The 2009 Mazda MAZDA6 is 6.9 inches longer and 2.3 inches wider than its predecessor. It now gives more to the passengers in the rear in terms of leg, shoulder, and hip room. It is the only vehicle in its class to offer the available Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) System. The available Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System, allows the owner to unlock it without pulling out the keys from the pocket and, once inside, the available push-button start turns on the car ignition.

A custom-tuned Bose Premium Centerpoint Surround Sound System with 10-speakers is available along with a voice-activated DVD navigation system and Bluetooth phone and audio capability. Its total cargo volume is 16.6 cubic feet.

Safety features
