Mazda has famously stayed away from producing hybrids in the past, focusing solely on refining the combustion engine. The results have been impressive to say the least. With revolutionary developments such as the new SKYACTIV-X diesel-like gasoline engine, its hard to fault the company’s efforts. But with more and more of the consumers clamoring for green-energy vehicles, Mazda decided to put their considerable talents toward designing something new.
